Fitness That Will TravelSummer vacations, business trips and holiday getaways can all get your fitness plan out of sync. But with a little planning and determination, it's possible to maintain your fitness level no matter where you travel. With a little creativity, every road warrior can win the fitness battle. Consider your destination and the road leading there. Think about where you will be staying and plan activities that will keep you moving. Additionally, think about what type of exercise tools you may need. Pack comfortable exercise shoes and attire, light weight exercise tubes and anything else you can thing else you think you might need. Practice your routine. Travel time is no time to come up with a new workout. If you don't have a plan, chances are you won't do it. Plan out and practice your travel workout so that you are comfortable with your routine. Pack healthy snacks. Taking a long drive? Pack bottled water, dried fruit and whole wheat crackers. Play in the pool. If you're staying in a hotel, chances are you'll have access to a pool. Try jogging in the shallow end, swimming laps or even doing exercises against the resistance of the water. A pool workout can be refreshing, will burn a few calories and keep you toned up. Every little bit helps while you are on the road. To preserve your hard-earned fitness level, perform a condensed but intense 20 to 30 minute strength workout preceded by a 10 minute warm up consisting of either marching in place, jumping rope or climbing stairs.
