Are The Fireworks Over?

There is no need to just stand by and let your motivation to be fit just fizzle out on its own. Do you go through phases of diligent exercise and healthy eating but find it difficult to stick with your plan for very long? One of the most common reasons ladies avoid or discontinue their fitness plan is due to internal barriers such as negative thoughts, feelings and perceptions, according to Jay Kimiecik, PhD at Miami University.

Try using the following tips to break through your internal exercise barriers and keep the fireworks going.

1. Understand the benefits of consistent exercise. Mental alertness, increased energy, a healthier body and a physical appearance that you'll be very proud of.
2. Understand the battle ahead. Many ladies start out their exercise program feeling intimidated, anxious about their appearance, and lacking confidence in their ability to stick with it. Don't let these negative thoughts and feelings stop you from following through with your plans. You CAN do it!
3. Establish the right motivation to exercise. True motivation comes from within. Sustain your motivation by setting goals that have personal significance.
4. Let your fitness buddies know how you're doing. Statistics tell us that people who are accountable are more successful at exercising consistently.
5. Reward yourself each time you get the job done. Each time you exercise put $2 in a special tip jar for yourself and at the end of the month buy yourself something extra special.

Getting yourself to exercise is 95% mental and 5% physical. Break through the mental barriers and get your body moving.
