Excuse Proof Your Workout

A recent survey revealed that 50% of women who do not stay faithful to their exercise program blame lack of motivation and lack of energy as the reasons for quitting. Another 29% pointed to lack of time and the remainder cited job and family obligations as their reasons for not exercising.

Let's face it, whatever your excuse, it's hard to stay motivated about your exercise program while juggling work, chores, home, kids and hobbies. We all have too many responsibilities, lack motivation at times and sometimes just get plain ole tired. As a result, it's very easy to say, "Nah, I'm not gonna exercise today. It's no big deal." It's not hard for those days to turn into weeks and weeks into months. Then before you know it, your exercise program is a thing of the past.

So just how do some women maintain a consistent stick-with-it attitude despite juggling the rest of their responsibilities? They focus on the benefits they stand to gain from exercise. These benefits include maintaining or losing weight and inches, feeling more comfortable with their body, reaping health benefits and increased energy, just to name a few.

Self-esteem is another benefit. Often, when women start on an exercise program, they have very low self-esteem, but within a few months, they become more confident self-assured individuals.

Only you know what factor best motivates you. My motivation is simple. I want to strive to stay physically fit, healthy, strong and confident for as long as possible, not giving in to the ageing process easily.

So lady, no more excuses. I know there will be times when life will get in the way of your workout. I know there will be times when you simply need and deserve a break from your routine. But, I also know, that if you maintain consistency and make exercise an integral part of your life, that in the long run, you will have improved your life in so many ways. Boost your own motivation by focusing on the benefits that you stand to gain from exercise.
